The GrateDrain™ solves the most difficult basement water problems. Protect your basement with the most advanced technological water control system available today. The GrateDrain™ was designed with large dual chambers that direct ground water from beneath the basement floor and the wall/footing joint to the sump liner. The ability of the GrateDrain™ to accept ground water through large passageways (punch holes) from either direction is a powerful advantage when compared to other drainage systems. Other drainage systems may only allow water to enter from one direction or allow water to pass right through their drainage pipe from the wall/footing joint and bring ground water under the basement slab instead of directing it to the sump liner. (see figure 1)
The isolation between the GrateDrain™ dual chambers prevent cross contamination of iron bacteria. Our research has taught us that most iron bacteria problems are located in one area of the basement. For example, the iron bacteria may only come in the wall/footing joint and not from under the slab or from the wall/footing joint. We believe that most other systems actually allow cross-contamination of iron bacteria colonies to the whole basement. The GrateDrain™ was designed to isolate any iron bacteria problems so that it is not spread throughout the basement.
GrateDrain™ protects the entire basement. The GrateDrain™ is installed on the perimeter bellow the basement floor. The corners have accessible covers to allow a service technician to flush out the system if needed. GrateDrain™ is an engineered sub floor basement drainage system which is also a closed system (sealed system). Any water or ground humidity it collects cannot evaporate back into the home environment. We recommend that a wall vapor barrier like HD ThermalShield™ be installed along with Flexi-Flange™. We recommend surrounding the GrateDrain™ with clean 3/4“ crushed stone.
